Organisational Commitments

Watch the video below to get acquainted with the main organisational commitments to participate in Our Programme.

Video Key Takeaways

Our Accelerator Programme for Organisations supports real, measurable climate and environmental action. Whether or not you’ve signed the Climate and Environment Charter, the goal is the same: to deliver essential services while reducing your environmental footprint and strengthening resilience — all within planetary boundaries.

card-1

To join the programme, organisations commit to:

1. Reducing carbon emissions in line with science-based targets

● At least -60% by 2035, with an ambitious intermediary target for 2030

● These targets exclude offsets and align with the Climate Charter’s vision for meaningful climate action.

2. Sharing knowledge and progress transparently

● By learning from one another, we accelerate collective progress.

3. Engaging in peer-to-peer collaboration

● Contributing to a growing, action-oriented community across the sector.

4. Committing internal capacity

● Approx. 25% of a focal point’s time across key phases

● Leadership engagement at important milestones.

5. Providing a financial contribution

● Scaled to your organisation’s size — starting at 14 KCHF per year for two years.

● Covers mentoring, workshops, and access to practical tools.

FAQ - Practical Questions on the Programme

What does the programme deliver?expand collapse
Workshops and mentoring are tailored to each phase of the programme and designed to help you move from understanding to action.
Carbon footprint phase: You’ll be guided through defining your organisational boundary, collecting relevant data, and calculating your emissions using fit-for-purpose tools. Your footprint will undergo expert review to ensure accuracy and credibility. The emphasis is on practical examples and tested methods.
Roadmap phase: Sessions support you in conducting internal surveys, leading cross-functional workshops, and selecting climate and environmental solutions suited to your operational context and aligned with science-based targets. You’ll receive tools and a structured methodology to build your roadmap, which includes an indicative cost–benefit analysis to support strategic decision-making. The final version is reviewed externally to ensure quality and consistency.
Implementation phase: The focus shifts to priority actions most organisations need to address — such as procurement and supply chains, travel policies, and waste management — along with the development of a monitoring framework to track progress over time. The programme provides thematic toolkits and a standard monitoring framework to support this phase.
You’ll also benefit from:
Collective mentoring sessions, where teams problem-solve together, exchange experiences, and learn from one another.
One-on-one mentoring, to support organisation-specific needs — such as identifying the most relevant and impactful solutions for your context.
All of this is designed to help you build and begin implementing a tailored climate and environmental roadmap — with the tools, confidence, and peer support to follow through.
How does the peer-to-peer learning work?expand collapse
Peer exchange happens throughout the programme via collective mentoring, community events, and shared experience. This helps break the isolation often felt by sustainability leads and keeps teams motivated.
What kind of internal workload should we expect?expand collapse
We recommend allocating at least 25% of a full-time equivalent (FTE) during the carbon footprint and roadmap development phases. Workload may increase during implementation depending on the organisation’s size and the scope of internal policies to be developed. Leadership engagement is also key: • Directors are expected to participate at critical moments to help drive organisational buy-in. • A steering committee should be established to validate key outputs (carbon footprint, roadmap, and monitoring framework).
We don’t have a dedicated sustainability officer. Who can lead this work?expand collapse
Many organisations begin with a cross-functional team or a motivated focal point from operations, logistics, or senior management. The programme is designed to build capacity within existing structures. That said, it’s important to designate one dedicated person to follow the programme from start to finish and coordinate internal efforts. This person should be supported by leadership at key milestones. Additionally, up to four other staff members can access the platform to support implementation and build capacity across departments.
What is the financial commitment?expand collapse
Costs are scaled to your organisation’s size and budget, starting at 14 KCHF/year for organisations with an annual budget under CHF 10 million (28 KCHF for the full two-year programme). This covers all mentoring, workshops, tools, and access to peer learning — making it a cost-effective investment in long-term capacity and resilience. By pooling resources and leveraging lessons learned from past experiences, the programme reduces duplication and offers a lower-cost alternative to traditional consultancy services.
Is the learning experience suitable for low digital bandwidth environments?expand collapse
Yes. Our Moodle platform is designed to be accessible even in low digital bandwidth settings. It uses lightweight formats and avoids heavy multimedia content, making it suitable for users with limited internet connectivity.
What language(s) is the programme delivered in?expand collapse
The original language is English, with French translation underway by the end of 2025. Other languages may be considered, depending on demand and funding.
